MacKeeper showed up on my computer. Is it legit?

After I downloaded an app onto my imac an alert message has been showing up on my computer every time I turn it on. It is MacKeeper. The message box says MacKeeper is updated successfully! Would you like to launch it? Since I don't know if it is legit I have never opened it. What should I do with it?  Thanks!

If you remember where you downloaded the app that apparently also gave you Mackeeper, you may want to avid it in the future. It is generally a good idea to get apps from the Mac App Store and from individual developer websites.
