Keyboard won’t work

Was watching Netflix and paused my Mac - it went to sleep and when I came back to turn it back on (max time of 20 min or so) the keyboard wasn’t responding. I already tried the basic key tricks Apple tells you to do. What could be wrong? Working one second and not the next. It’s been like this since Sunday! 

May I suggest:

 

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

 

This help topic applies if you have an Intel-based Mac.
