How can I get my recovery key?

How can I get my recovery key?

If you mean for 2-step verification : Two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support

If you ever need a new Recovery Key, you can create one from your Apple ID account page. Just sign in with your password and trusted device, go to the Security section and click Edit, then click Replace Lost Key.

After you create a new key, your old Recovery Key won't work.

Hi

Not sure what you mean by this if you have forgotten your password go to  iforgot.apple.com.

Cheers

Brian

AM going rounded in circles. The new set recovery key is not where Apple says it is.

Which part is not there ? The Edit button on the Security section of your account ? The 'Replace Lost Key' button ? The newly generated Recovery Key ?

I have just found my old iPad 1. It still works. There are photos on. Tried to connect to iCloud. It wants my recovery key. Don't know it. Can't find anything that relates to changing on my edit security account. Thanks for reply

I'm not using two-step verification, but if you've logged into the account on https://appleid.apple.com , and clicked on the Edit button next to the Security section on the account's page, you should get the option to 'Replace Lost Key' : If you can't sign in with two-step verification using your Apple ID - Apple Support

As long as you remember your Apple ID password and still have access to one of your trusted devices, you can sign in and create a new Recovery Key.

  1. Go to your Apple ID account page.
  2. Sign in with your password and trusted device.
  3. In the Security section, click Edit > Replace Lost Key.

Are you logging in from a trusted device ? What options do you get when you click on the 'Edit' button ?

In security edit I have

Password.  Change

Trusted phone

App passwords

Notification email

And 2 factor authentication

Nothing on recovery key as the other ipad1 is sooo old. Have resigned myself to not being able to re-add it to my iCloud as I've never put a recovery code in. Thanks for ur help but I'm about to give up

I have the same issue (reusing old iPad1) and has the same problem as LPleavin: the security page on my Manage Apple ID doesn't have Edit > Replace Lost Key.  I have two-factor authentication and when I try to access my iCloud account from my iPad1 it asks for a recovery key.  Which I don't have; and manage my Apple.id can't give me...

Try contacting iTunes Support.

This won't work anymore. I have created a few new Apple IDs (I have an obsessed hacker), and now you don't get a Recovery Key. Your apple ID account page don't have an option to create a RK. On top of that, when I want to recover an account, if they ask me for my Recovery Key, they give me only 12 spaces to fill with the code -- but my RKs have 24 characters. They don't work. This is frustrating.

Found the solution.

On your trusted device request a verification code (From iCloud password and security settings),

On your old device append the verification code to your Apple password.

Worked on my old iOS 6.1 device.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It's asking for a recovery key that starts with a RK-

BTW, I tried to call Apple Care and they told me that my iPad is no longer supported :-)

It's the original iPad. It's only 7-years old. Very disappointed by Apple on this!
