Macbook lagging

So I've been using my mac without actually shutting it down recently, and the day before yesterday it ran out of battery, so I charged it, making it restart after auto-shutdown. Yesterday, it was extremely laggy and glitchy and when I switched tabs in Chrome, it would show a white screen for at least 5 to 10 seconds, and everything was extremely laggy, while my cursor moved as normal. I restarted my mac a total of 4 times, and although I did not use it much, its battery decreased by 60%. Currently, my mac is less laggy and lags less often. Please help
