900mb write speed?

Hi, I'm looking to change my HDD drive to a SSD one, and watching some videos I saw one that the guy (Jonathan Morrison, famous YouTuber) got a raid configuration with 2 SSD (120gbx2) and got more than 900mb write speed. How is that possible? Each ssd have 500 maximum write speed.  So, My question is. If a buy a ssd with 500/ws I only get 500/ws? Then if I buy two of them I got twice velocity? (Ws= write speed) (sorry for my English)
