Purple Static When Phone is Near

Hi,

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro from the Apple store, so it's in perfect condition and I have never experienced any difficulties with it. However, I recently rested my iPhone on the keyboard so it would be propped up against the screen. This caused my screen to produce purple static all over the display. I am curious to know if this is a normal occurrence and it's nothing to worry about. Any information or advice would be very appreciated. Thank you!
