Mac Pro loses keyboard connection on USB?

Hi everyone,

My Mac Pro keeps losing keyboard connection if I leave it for more than half an hour or so, even though I have switched off sleep option?

The keyboard is a standard Apple A0148 which is connected by USB and works perfectly the rest of the time. The mighty mouse is connected to the keyboard by USB. If I leave the computer for any length of time, when I come back to it the computer will not respond at all to the keyboard, but strangely it does respond to the mouse connected to it! Any ideas why this is happening?

Mac Pro 5.1 running on latest Sierra.
