Audio glitches with USB headset after upgrade t...

Hi,

I am using a USB headset (a Plantronics 478) with my MacBook Pro Retina 2015, and I am experiencing some glitches since I've upgraded to the latest version of macOS Sierra.

The glitch affects the audio input as well as the output. In terms of output, the sound "flickers", as in the audio goes silent and full volume many times (4 or 5) per second which renders the device completely unusable.

The problem goes away when I roll back the laptop to an earlier version of macOS Sierra which tells me there is an audio driver issue with the latest update.

I've done a PRAM and SMC resets and the problem still persists.

I am wondering if other people are experiencing the same problem.

I've connected the USB headset via an old non-powered Kensington USB 2.0 hub and it now works fine as expected.

When the USB headset is connected via my monitor (which acts as a powered USB hub) it does not work.

But anyway, I now have access to a working headset.

I have the same problem with Plantronics A622 on Imac 21,5 (Late 2012). After update on Sierra 10.12.4 my headset doesn't work normally, like your. Nothing actions help. And unfortunately i haven't timemachine backup ((

At least there is someone else with the same problem. I wonder if it also affects makes other than Plantronics (such as Logitech).

As a test, try logging in to a new user account and see if the problem also happens. Let us know.

I've got the same issue with a USB Logitech H340 headset. Stuttering and choppy output regardless of source.

Tried it on different Mac's and even tried new headset new from package and same result. Works fine on 10.12.3.

Tried p-ram, 10.12.4 re-install and changing Audio Midi settings to no avail.

There's a new AudioAUUC.kext extension installed so it might be that one. I've raised a call with Apple so we'll see what they say.

Same issue, same headset (Logitech H340 USB). Headset audio was fine until I installed 10.12.4.

Mac is a Mac Mini (Late 2012) and I've done a complete reinstall of Sierra 10.12.4 with no improvement. Audio wavers in and out several times a second; no problems with audio via the speakers or headphone jack.

There is definitely an issue. I installed on 2 Mac's same issue. I am trying to reinstall the os. Ridiculous to put us all in this way after a supposed upgrade

Hi @tobiachi, thanks for raising the call with Apple. Do they have a bug reporting system somewhere on the Web? Do you ming share a link to the ticket you've submitted (so others and myself can weigh in this issue)?

I have the same problem with my Plantronics headset Apple has to fix this ASAP it's unacceptable!

I have the same exact problem: macOS Sierra Update 10.12.4 Stuttering Audio

I'm glad I'm not alone.  Do we think this is for all Plantronics headsets or...? 

As far as I am aware, this issue affects quite a few headsets from other manufacturers (Logitech, Microsoft). I've raised an issue with Apple Support.
