Mac Pro 2008 no entry sign.

Bought a used 2008 Mac Pro at auction. When I brought it home, I turned it on and opened the side panel I quickly discovered the hard drive was missing. Easy problem to fix I thought. I bought a Samsung SSD, Carbon Copy Cloned my Macbook Pro and went down this rabbit hole. First sign of trouble was literally a no entry sign. After researching extensively how to resolve the issue I am stuck at this phase of troubleshooting I haven't found the answer for: I turn on the mac and using a non-apple keyboard I press 'ALT' at chime to 'bypass' the sign. The Mac Pro sees the cloned drive and the 'Recovery-10.12' option but every time I hit enter it reverts back to a grey screen with a no entry sign.

I'm about to take it down to a repair store if answers don't prevail.

Ok, I see at least two issues here:

  1. You can't use a clone copy of another Mac, especially if that Mac is NOT identical to one you are attempting to use the clone on.
  2. macOS Sierra, as a minimum, requires a 2009+ Mac.
