authentication error with iCloud mail on Android

I have problem with authentication in my Samsung Galaxy J5, Incorect login or password or some problem with POP3/IMAP, but on web icloud mail works with no problem.

Can someone help me?

I tried calling Apple Support and all they recommended was to check my device for any pending updates. I have none pending. My husband has an iPhone, and he said it just updated yesterday or the day before. My guess is that either they screwed something up for Android devices or they are no longer supporting non apple devices. IF that's the case, it would be nice to have gotten a heads up, or for support to know this to advise their users. My phone kept giving me an alert that I couldn't log into the email, quite annoying, so I uninstalled the email since it wouldn't take my ID and password. Now when I try to reinstall the email, it tells me, "Couldn't open connection to server." When I try to access my account from icloud.com, it says "Your browser is not currently supported." It looks like Android devices are no longer supported for icloud or their email...I'm not buying an iPhone, so I guess I'm just done with that email account. Time to notify everyone that has that email on their file for me...what a pain!!

It's the new measures Apple have put in place - the only problem is their method to 'fix' doesn't seem to exist, even if you follow their instructions.

What is their fix? Do they say how to fix it in other words?

the only problem is their method to 'fix' doesn't seem to exist, even if you follow their instructions.

There is no fix, as nothing is broken.

As of June 15th, if you wish to use a secure Apple service such as iCloud Mail, with a 3rd party app like Outlook or Thunderbird, you MUST use an app specific password.

Using app-specific passwords - Apple Support

In order to generate an app specific password you MUST have either 2 Step Verification or 2 Factor Authentication enabled for your Apple ID.

Yes, something is broken as I could log in to my icloud email address on my Android earlier today...and then my phone started vibrating at me because I was getting notifications that icloud couldn't log me in. When I tried to login, it said my password was incorrect. I changed my password, and it still said it was incorrect. I deleted that email account off my phone and tried to reinstall it, and it said it wasn't supported. Apple did an update, and it looks like it no longer supports non Apple/ios devices. I have since deleted my icloud account and made a new email address through Google. I won't be forced to purchase an Apple device to be able to access my email. I use to have an iPhone, and I hated it...which is why I now have an Android.

Something changed. That is all.

You are not being forced to buy an Apple device to get your mail.

* iCloud Mail can still be accessed via iCloud.com.

* Once there, you could forward it to any other provider and access it there without an Apple device.

I can no longer access iCloud.com on my Android, so for me, the only way I can access my email when I am mobile would be to purchase an Apple product. I can still access it on my laptop, which is what I am on now, but NOT from my Android. When I try, I get a message that says, "Your browser is not currently supported."

Problem here is you cant do the apple-2-step until 20th June.

What an ***-about method...cut android off and not supply a fix for 3 days!

What a useless company! Exactly why I also changed to Android.  Who in their right mind applies a "fix" the alienates a huge portion of the people using the system? And before the "apple fan boys" jump in I am aware there will be a 2 step fix "eventually" WHAT ABOUT NOW?

Nobody is defending Apple. So drop that approach.

We are explaining what happened and how possibly to work with it.

Becoming hysterical and shouting is not going to resolve your issue. If you've been delayed enrolling in 2SV, you may have made changes to your account that triggered that.

Again, not defending, explaining.

My approach is sound.

Your defence is weak.

Apple have made changes to my account making it impossible to retrieve private information (email) unless I use pc icloud login or an apple device with 2 step. Neither of which I had access to at the time.

Again you are defending apple and just like apple you clearly do not comprehend all the facts involved.

Crawl back under your apple shaped rock and let the rest of us with the problem discuss possible solutions.

Okay for one there is no need for disrespecting when I'm trying to figure out what is going on with my phone. And maybe you shouldn't be the one on here helping with problems with phones when the people at AT&T told me to go here. So grow up with your little attitude and listen

On June 15 this year things changed, non Apple software had to have a separate password in order to access iCloud, (the 2 factor authentication password),which is explained here:

Well I tired everything for it and it still goes to the same th
