Please help: Connecting to iTunes results in an...

I forgot the passcode to my iPhone 7+ and made 10 incorrect attempts at unlocking the device. The "iPhone is disabled - connect to iTunes" screen appeared and is STILL what I am seeing. Whenever I connect my iPhone to my PC with my Apple Lightning to USB Cable and open iTunes I receive the error message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000015)."

I then ran Diagnostics. I can provide those results if necessary.

I went to If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support and followed EVERY step. I have the latest version of iTunes. My PC is updated to the latest version of Windows 10. My device is technically ON, but it is not unlocked. I can not receive "Trust this Computer" alerts because I can not unlock my device. I have unplugged all other USB accessories (my wireless mouse and my wireless headset). I have restarted my PC NUMEROUS times. I have restarted and FORCE restarted my iPhone NUMEROUS times. I don't have another computer to use.

I have also reinstalled the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.

I did not see the Apple Mobile Device USB driver with an error symbol in Device Manager. Regardless, for good measure, I restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service. I ended up altogether UNINSTALLING every security software on my PC. I also disabled Windows Firewall. I then tried to install the usbaapl64.inf file AGAIN. Despite my efforts, I am still receiving the same error message: "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000015)."

Please, if anyone can help me, I would be so grateful!

iTunes gets a little grumpy sometimes. It needs to be reinstalled.

However, it MUST be uninstalled the correct way. The individual programs have to be uninstalled IN THE CORRECT ORDER for the uninstall to be complete:

Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:

  1. iTunes
  2. Apple Software Update
  3. Apple Mobile Device Support
  4. Bonjour
  5. Apple Application Support 32-bit
  6. Apple Application Support 64-bit (32 bit and 64 bit if both are installed)

Then reinstall the latest version from https://itunes.com
