When I connect a power adapter for charging my MacBook, its another end, which is connected to charging slot heats like anything. Is there any problem with Charger or battery?

If it is the L-shaped magsafe end, those sometimes develop a short circuit in that connector-end.

The litmus test for the connector-end (while not connected) is to rotate the end radially around its cord. If it rotates easily more than about 15 degrees, it may have, or may develop, a short circuit.
