Infinite Update Loop
This has been on an infinite update loop.
I don't know what is going on but every time I reboot after the install it just prompts me again to install.
Any suggestions?
- What are you updating?
- How are you updating?
- What errors did you receive?
- What prompts have you received?
Please answer clearly and precisely. Read Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question.
1. This is in direct post to the article about update the Multiport AV Adapter - USB-C. About the USB-C Multiport Adapter Update 1.0 - Apple Support
(Seems the apple didn't seem to think that it was important to keep the article associated with my question.
2. From the prompt described in the article.
3. No errors.
4. Repeated prompts to install the update. (Which I assume that it's unsuccessfully updating, but there are no error prompts or updates to indicate why the update failed.)
This is for the new MacBooks, correct? Is that what you have? It also requires that you are running El Capitan and have an Apple Multi-port Adapter. Not sure from the article that you need the update if you are running Sierra. My MacBook has Sierra so I have opted to ignore this update because I would not have any need for it at this time.
Did you try the instructions to Verify that the update got installed? If so, what was reported? Did you follow all of the pre-installation instructions including the connection of the power cable from the adapter to the power adapter/source? This prompt you mentioned, is that the one at the end for Restarting the computer? Or the one at the beginning for starting the installation?
Apple doesn't post articles here in user posts. You have to do that. That is precisely why I had no idea what your problem was. Now, I do.
I am having the same issue. Newest version of el Capitan, brand new 2017 MacBook pro, install loop on the multi port adapter. I actually had it working for about a week, and this morning it decided to start the loop again. I've followed all the directions explicitly and it is on the 5th install as of writing. No error messages, no expansion why it's not working, just install the update. Over and over again.
Me too, brand new MacBook Pro 2017, all updates applied, latest OS. Just got the USB-C Multiport Adapter at a rip-off price of $70 or something like that from Staples, and the update requires computer restart so this infinite loop is even more annoying since I've applied it and restarted my computer 5 or 6 times now and every time the alert pops up to apply the update again.
