Will disabling "Find My Mac" release my Macbook...

My question: will disconnecting my Macbook from iCloud cancel the "Lost My Macbook" lock screen?

Some background:

Let me begin by saying that iCloud Find My iPhone/Mac is broken and extraordinarily insecure.

If someone can phish or breach your iCloud account, they do not need 2FA to disable your Macbook (or your iPhone if it is not passcode-protected). This is an egregious oversight, especially considering that phishing emails targeting Mac users are getting more and more sophisticated.

My Macbook is now being held ransom behind the lock screen initiated from the Find My Macbook option in iCloud. To be clear, my laptop was not hacked, but the iCloud account was breached, and the hacker was able to remotely lock my Macbook (I recommend, at the very least, that everyone disconnect their Macbook from Find My Macbook, and use 1Password to generate and secure a unique password for iCloud and keep it fresh).

If I disconnect my Macbook from iCloud, will that release it from the "Lost My Macbook" lock screen? My thinking is that since the permissions are being managed by iCloud, if the Macbook is released from iCloud, it would no longer have any way of receiving/corroborating input (i.e. the passcode to release the device) and so would lift the lock screen. Is this correct?
