iPad and iPhone acting weird

Hi everyone!

So today I went to the App Store to update two of my apps (YouTube and Google+) and it had me sign into iCloud before it would let me update (never did that before). Also I checked my phone (signed into same iCloud on phone) and a popup appeared saying 'Your Apple ID is being used for a new iMessage on (name of my iPad). If you signed into iCloud on this iPad you can ignore it.' Or something like that. The strange thing is that there was no new iMessage being sent from my iPad (didn't see anything new in Messages app). By the way, this is using a hotel's wifi. And while I was away today sightseeing, my mom was in the hotel with my iPad.

Is it possible my iPad and iPhone have both been hacked? Or my iCloud account? Or was it just my mom messing around with settings?

iPad model: Air 2

iPhone model: SE

OS: iOS 10.3.3, no jailbreak (both)
