Macbook Pro mid 2012 Screen Flicker and Shut Do...

I have a Macbook Pro mid 2012. Sometimes when I pick up the computer, the screen flickers with green or blue distortions, and only in parts of the screen, perhaps narrow bands, (the whole screen does not turn one color) and a few seconds later the computer restarts. I recently replaced the battery. Not sure if this happens when the computer is plugged in too.
