Upgrade HDD Macbook8,1 can't mount HDD

After suffered a Kernel panic in my Macbook 8,1 I read all available forum and I was finally convinced that my original HGST 500 Gb was dead.

Then I ordered a new 1Tb HGST (5400RPM) in Amazon, validating my upgrade in OWC Macsales.

I removed the old & install the new HDD (Before that, I prepared my 16Gb flash drive with a bootable El Capitan). I booted but Disk Utility wasn't able to find my new HDD. Visiting other forum I learn that sometimes you need to format (Journaled) "outside" the Mac. Shopping again I went, now for a 2.5" external case and use my very loyal Macbook5,1 (8Gb/1Tb/IntelCore2) in order to give format to the new HDD.

Third time's the charm? NO! Disk utility - booting from El Capitan in a 16Gb flash drive - isn't able to see the new HDD!!!

What should I do? What I'm doing wrong?

Did you check the flex cable?

There might be a chance the SATA cable got damaged -- it was a common issue for MacBook pro.

Good luck

Sam

Not a PRO. What should I do in order to check the cable? It doesn't look bended or broken. All this Kernel Panic started after upgrade to High Sierra, freezing my Mac so I have to time capsule BACK to El Capitan. After that all went wrong.
