Crashing (or shutting down) during sleep

My new mac (late 2015, but it's a newly purchased machine), keeps shutting down or crashing while sleeping. What's happening is that I close the lid when I leave work, and the next morning when I open it, it reboots - with boot sound and my browser saying it was shut down unexpectedly 'Restore last session?'. I've set the power settings to allow the disk to turn off, but on my last mac, this merely meant 'sleep' - and when I revived it, everything I was working on was still there and open. It just took a bit of time to wake up.

How do I stop this from happening. I do want to enable power saving and sleep mode, but I do NOT want to force shut down my system everytime I close the lid or leave it untouched for a while.
