i get this message: "MacOS Sierra failed to download. Use the purchase page to try again."

the app store says "an error has occurred"

-deleted the partial file from my hand drive and restarted - starts and fails to download

-deleted partial file again

-restarted using command R to redownload operating system - shows the old version of my operating system, starts and fails to download

-deleted partial file again

-repaired disk upon restart using command R - starts and fails to download

-deleted partial file AGAIN

-restarted using command R to redownload operating system (again)- starts and fails to download

now what?

Hey, there is how to!

Want to install macOS Sierra without any problem?

Make sure your Mac's system time, date and location are all correct: macOS Sierra: Date & Time System Preferences. Then, try again. If you don't get anywhere Contact Support.

Hi John, this method just worked for me...

I received my friend's old MacBook, which he reset to factory settings (Mountain Lion 10.8.5).

I needed to update to Sierra, but received the same message when I tried to download it from the App Store.

I am currently in Japan, but as it is an English MacBook, my debit card etc is also UK and I don't want a Japanese version of OS X I tried connecting to the UK App Store.

To make this work I set the MacBook Date & Time settings to the Apple Europe Settings, but I also had to turn OFF Location Services (so the Mac doesn't know I'm in Japan) or it still fails to download.

Thanks!
