My MacBook Pro

My MacBook Pro turned off due to low battery but when I charged and turned it back on, there was a picture of a grey folder with a question mark at the center of the folder that was blinking on and off my screen. I even tried to restart it several time even by pressing COMMAND and R at the same time but nothing works, can anyone help me with this dilemma. This laptop has all my personal and school documents on it.
