Select grey tracks, right or ctrl-click, click Check Selection.

Thank you.  However, when I select and drag to another playlist, they still remain gray

and I have a feeling they will still not record on my blank disc...we'll see.

Thanks again...zerx

Do the tracks play in iTunes?

Are they stored locally and not in the cloud?

You can't burn protected Apple Music tracks.

What constitutes a protected track?  I thought everything could be burned for a limited number of times.

If you have a subscription to the Apple Music service you can stream or download from almost the whole of the iTunes catalogue, but anything you download will only work while your subscription remains active, and cannot be burned to CD.

I don't use Apple Music.  My library consists of songs that I have bought from Apple or Amazon and many songs that I uploaded from CDs.   When I last tried to burn CDs, I got the grayed-out effect for a few songs, and later, a message came up that said something like, "you can only burn songs seven times."  Don't remember if those were related or not, and wouldn't that apply only to what I've purchased, as opposed to uploaded?   Can't imagine that I've burned that many of any of them.

I thought it was the same playlist that could only be burnt seven times, but I guess iTunes could be keeping a record of the number of times you burn each track. You're only supposed to use the content for your personal use. How many mix tapes CDs do you need?

Come to think of it, it may have said playlist, in which case it makes even less sense.   Funny you should ask...I never made mix tapes.  Just think of me as a little behind the curve.   ("Little" is relative.)

If it said playlist then it makes perfect sense. iTunes only allows seven burns of the same playlist, presumably so you don't start using iTunes as the hub of an illicit backstreet CD production line. There are other ways to copy CDs, assuming the media is yours to copy and sell or give away, and if it isn't then you shouldn't be making copies.
