Itunes icon blank on task bar

Just bought a new IMac, and after running all the normal updates and such I opened Itunes to start importing my music. After importing my first two albums I closed the program and when I did the music note Icon disappeared from my task bar replaced by the blank tile with the applications A in the bottom right corner. restarting the computer did not restore the image, force quit on the task bar did not restore it. I have not been able to fine a fix for this online so if anyone can help that's great. For me its a huge visual distraction more than anything
