iCloud backup after iOS 10

Hi - We are a company with around 350 iPhone and iPad users.  I did put this in the iCloud section of the Community, but I've seen other users have the same issue in this section, so I thought I'd add it here.

In order to stop the users adding their own email accounts to the iPhone we lock down the device via the restrictions - disabling the accounts section.  This then stops access to the iTunes settings.  In testing of iOS 10.0.1, we upgraded one of the devices (a 16Gb 5S, which had done a backup at 7.20am that morning), from 9.3.2 which went fine with no obvious issues, then, after a couple of days to allow the handset to function we removed the restriction and went to the Backup on iCloud to find no backup has occurred since the upgrade and a message 'Some files were unavailable during the last backup' in it's place.

If all our staff upgrade their phones (which we've told them not to yet) then the backups look like they stop.  It's easy to fix, as a manual backup will complete the process, but you have to remove the restriction to do this.

We've tested this on iPhone 5, 5s, iPad airs from iOS 8 to 9.3.5 and all have this issue.

I am having this exact same issue, 16gb iPhone 5S as well. I'm planning on bringing it up during my Genius Bar appointment today.

I'm having this issue on my iPhone 6 Plus. It appears that a partial backup is being run, as all my images are on iCloud, but not everything is backing up. I verified I have sufficient space iCloud, I have 50GB and 5GB available.

I am having the same issue on my iPhone 6s Plus after upgrading to iOS 10

I have tried both auto scadual backup and "Back up now" on iCloud with no luck.

I am having the same issue - did you get an answer?

I had the same issue.  I did some research online and a few people suggested that old backups can become corrupted and cause problems like this.  I deleted my old backup of my device, and now the backup is running happily.

I have the same issue on my new iPhone 7 upgraded from iPhone 6s, i just deleted the back up of my new iPhone 7 that has an error of "Some files were unavailable during the last backup" not the 6s icloud backup, first delete the icloud backup of your new device then shut it down, then turn back in and start the backup of your new device. Hope this help.

I've found the solution. Based on this guide: https://macreports.com/icloud-files-unavailable-error-fix/ ... I've deleted earlier backup(s) from the cloud. Actually it was 0 KB, so it had some problem. After that, the backup process were working well. Settings / iCloud / Manage storage . You will find it.
